Frequently Asked Questions

Is my E-mail address safe with Minetoo?

Yes. We will never under any circumstances disclose your e-mail address to anyone. You can make contact through the site safely with other Minetoo members without the need to disclose your e-mail address unless you choose to do so.

Will I get lots of unwanted messages by joining Minetoo?

No. We hate spam as much as anyone else. We will never sell, rent or otherwise disclose your e-mail address to any third party. Otherwise we will only disclose that information that you personally have chosen to give to us in order to use the site to its full.

Identity Theft

We all need to protect ourselves from identity thieves. That certainly means shredding important documents like old bank statements before throwing them away. With a name, an address a bank account number and a National Security/Insurance number an identity thief has all the information they need.

Although most identity theft happens offline you should clearly be careful on-line too.

That's why Minetoo limits the information it requires from its membership.

  • We don't disclose your real name, although we'll use it when we contact you.
  • We don't reveal your real location within your country.

We don't ask for your street address, telephone numbers, bank account details or Social Security numbers. The only way someone else could get these details would be if you tell them. Be cautious with the information you reveal to others online, whatever site you use.

How else does Minetoo protect my privacy?

The Minetoo site is carefully designed to put safety first. We make it our business to defend our members interests as best we can by safeguarding the information you supply to us. These are some of our privacy protection measures:

  • We never reveal your email address, except if you explicitly choose to reveal it by your own actions.
  • In the listings displayed on the site, we do not display any data which directly identifies you. Age, sex and country of residence are not enough to directly identify you.
  • You can stop other users sending you private messages.
  • Private messages do not include any identifying details. If you want another user to know them, you have to explicitly type them in a message.
  • When you receive a Tell A Friend message, we include the senders name and email address so they are identifiable.
  • When you send a Tell A Friend message, we make it clear we will include your name and email address.
  • We have carefully chosen the information we request to avoid data which could lead to identity theft.
  • We are legally bound by rigorous European Data Protection laws, which are the strongest in the world, and have stiff penalties for data misuse.

I am worried about cookies.

Minetoo.com only uses cookies to facilitate easy and swift use of the site. We hate Trojans and other spyware and would never under any circumstances ever use them.

What does the Online now option mean?

The Online now button on the Map Page shows members who have used the site in the past ten minutes and have not yet logged out. We have no way to tell if they're actually still using the site or not. Please use this as a guide to who might be online rather than as a precise tool.''

What happens if I change my mind about membership.
